Crews working to protect water supply in Youghal

Homes and businesses in Youghal may experience low water pressure or interruptions to their supply later this evening due to production issues at the local water treatment plant. 

Following a deterioration in the quality of the raw water source, water production at the Boola Water Treatment Plant was temporarily halted. Our crews are on site working to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. However, with reservoir levels continuing to fall, some customers may experience a loss of normal water supply later this evening.

Speaking from site, Uisce Éireann’s Bernard Gallagher explained that teams are working to minimise disruption to the community. 

"We know how disruptive it can be when there is uncertainty around your water supply and we understand the impact this can have on homes, businesses and daily routines. We’re working to get water flowing normally again and I want to thank our customers for their patience, understanding and support while this work is ongoing.”
