Headford Road outage: Repair works to burst water main ongoing

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Crews are continuing to work this evening to restore normal water supplies to homes and businesses in Galway city following a significant burst to a water main on the Headford Road.

Customers in Terryland Retail Park, Dunnacorrib, and surrounding areas may be experiencing low water pressure or supply disruptions as a result of the burst.

While crews have been working throughout the day to isolate the burst and carry out repairs, the works have proven more complex than initially anticipated. Crews remain on site carrying out the necessary repairs and works are now expected to continue until approximately 9pm tonight.

Tony Kelly of Uisce Éireann said crews are doing everything possible to restore water supplies as quickly as possible.

“We understand the impact this outage is having on the community, and we sincerely thank customers for their understanding. Our crews have been working continuously since the issue occurred and will remain on site until repairs are completed and water supply is fully restored.

“While we had hoped to have supply restored sooner, the works required are taking longer than originally expected. We know this news will be disappointing for customers and we want to reassure them that restoring water supply remains our absolute priority.”

Once repair works are completed, water will begin to return to the network. However, it may take some time for treated water reservoirs to refill and for normal supply to be fully restored to all customers.
