Crews responding to burst main on Lough Atalia Road

Uisce Éireann crews are responding to a burst on a water main on the Lough Atalia Road in the centre of Galway City, which is affecting supply to customers in the area this morning.

Uisce Éireann customers along Lough Atalia Road may be experiencing disruptions to their supply this morning as a consequence of this burst. 

Crews have mobilised to the site of the burst to commence repair works. It is estimated that repairs will be completed by 10pm this evening.

Typically, it can take three to four hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all properties after an unplanned outage. 

Teresa Burke of Uisce Éireann Asset Operations said that all efforts will be made to restore supply to impacted homes and businesses as quickly as possible.

“We acknowledge the frustration and inconvenience caused by unplanned outages, and we thank impacted customers for their understanding as our crews work to repair the burst and restore full supply as soon as possible,” said Teresa.

To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
