Crews restore full water supply in Kenmare as overnight restriction supports reservoir replenishment

Water supply has now been fully restored to customers in Kenmare following an operational issue at the Kenmare Water Treatment Plant early yesterday, with all customers back in supply by 6am this morning.
To allow the reservoir fully replenish and to ensure a resilient water supply over the weekend, an overnight restriction will be in place from 10pm tonight until 6am tomorrow morning. Customers may experience low or reduced pressure in Kenmare town, Gortamullin, Dromquinna, Templenoe, Kilmurry, Lissaniska, Dromneavane, Killowen, Caher East, Bonane and surrounding areas.
"Uisce Éireann is taking an additional precautionary step by implementing an overnight restriction to help safeguard water supplies for customers across the area. The overnight restriction will support the full replenishment of the reservoir and help protect daytime water supplies ahead of the upcoming weekend," said Eoin O'Connell, Operations Manager with Uisce Éireann.
He also thanked customers and local communities for their patience when works were underway at the plant yesterday.

Uisce Éireann is advising customers in Kenmare that an operational issue led to reduced reservoir levels, which are now recovering. Customers supplied by the plant, including those in Kenmare town, Gortamullin, Dromquinna, Templenoe, Kilmurry, Lissaniska, Dromneavane, Killowen, Caher East, Bonane and surrounding areas may experience low or reduced pressure.
To support impacted customers, an alternative water supply has been put in place at the following locations:
- Kenmare GAA pitch
- Kenmare square
- Sneem Road (near Kenmare Bay hotel)
- Bottled water will also be available in Kenmare square
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Uisce Éireann’s Eoin O’Connell assured those affected that every effort is being made to return a normal supply. “The reservoir levels are now replenishing. We expect customers to have their full water supply restored by 6am tomorrow (17 July). Customers in higher-lying areas and at the end of the network, it may take an additional three to four hours to return their full supply,” said Eoin.
“We understand the inconvenience caused by an unplanned outage such as this and would like to thank customers impacted for their patience. We have made alternative supplies available for impacted customers which will remain in place until the supply returns to everyone,” said Eoin.
