Investing in more reliable water services for Keshcarrigan

Uisce Éireann works will get underway next week on a major water mains upgrade that will benefit customers in Keshcarrigan and the wider Ballinamore area. The project will see close to 2km of ageing water mains replaced between Toomans and Keshcarrigan, helping to improve the reliability and resilience of the local water network.

The project is part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme and is focused on improving the reliability of the water supply for homes and businesses, while reducing the level of treated water lost through leaks.

Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager, Patricia Lowry, highlighted the benefit of the project for the local community: “This project is a significant investment in water infrastructure for Keshcarrigan and the wider Ballinamore area. By replacing close to 2km of ageing water mains, we are improving service reliability and helping to safeguard water supplies for the future.

Delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Farrans Construction, the project is expected to be completed in Spring 2027. To facilitate the safe delivery of the upgrades, traffic management measures will be required at various stages of the works. A road closure will be in place on the L3051 until September followed by a road closure on the R209 between Keshcarrigan Road and Fenagh Road until October.

Diversion routes will be clearly signposted, local access will be maintained, and work areas will be limited to short sections where possible to minimise disruption.
