Planned outage to support water network improvements in East Donegal

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

As part of ongoing works to upgrade the water network in East Donegal, Uisce Éireann is advising customers in the Twin Towns and surrounding areas of a planned overnight water outage tomorrow.

Uisce Éireann crews are currently replacing more than 700 metres of ageing water mains along the N15 from McClays Corner to the Admiral Park junction in Stranorlar. The works are part of continued investment in the local water network and will help reduce the risk of bursts, improve water quality, and deliver a more reliable water supply for homes and businesses in the area.

To facilitate a new connection as part of these upgrade works, a planned outage is required. Customers in Stranorlar, Ballybofey, Drumkeen, Convoy, Raphoe, Killygordon, Castlefinn and surrounding areas may experience a temporary disruption to water supply from 5pm on Tuesday, 28 April until 3pm on Wednesday, 29 April while works are underway.

Uisce Éireann’s Patricia Lowry said: “These works represent an important step in upgrading the existing water network and will support a more resilient and reliable water supply for Stranorlar and the wider East Donegal area. We recognise that any interruption to supply can be inconvenient, and every effort will be made to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible. We would like to thank customers for their patience and co operation while these essential upgrades are carried out.”

As the water supply returns, there may be some increased instances of discoloured water in the short-term. For helpful tips on what to do following an outage, visit the Issues during or after an outage section of our website.
