Uisce Éireann crews continue to work hard to restore normal water supply to customers in Granardkille.
The outage was caused by a major burst to a water main in the area yesterday. The burst was repaired last night and water is now returning to all customers in the area. Due to the extent and elevated nature of the water network, it could a number of hours following repairs for supply to restore to all customers affected by this unplanned outage.
Normal supply is expected to resume to all customers from approximately 9pm tonight.
Uisce Éireann acknowledges the impact these water supply interruptions have had on customers, especially given recent high temperatures and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Uisce Éireann’s David Gibbons thanked impacted customers for their patience while repairs were ongoing and renewed an appeal to conserve water.
“We understand the frustration that can be brought about by unplanned water outages, particularly in warm weather, and we wish to thank impacted customers for their understanding,” said David.
To support impacted customers, alternative water supplies remain available, in the form of bulk tankers, and can be availed of at Granardkille graveyard today.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
