Water main upgrades secure supply for Collooney community

Homes and businesses in Collooney are now benefiting from a more reliable water supply following the successful completion of Uisce Éireann's water main replacement project in the area.

This significant investment involved the replacement of more than 740 metres of old and damaged water mains with new, modern pipes, helping to improve network performance, reduce the risk of bursts and strengthen the reliability of water services for the local community.

The works were completed along the L7609/L76093, from Collooney Methodist Church to Markee Heights, and along the L7609 from Bungee Row to St. Mary's Green. As part of the project, 33 backyard water service connections were replaced, further improving the reliability and resilience of the local water network.

This upgrade for customers in Collooney was delivered under Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction Programme, which is focused on reducing leakage, improving water supply reliability and safeguarding water resources for communities across Ireland.

Welcoming the completion of the works, Uisce Éireann's Programme Manager, Patricia Lowry, said: "The successful completion of these works is good news for the Collooney community. Customers will now benefit from a stronger and more reliable water supply, with fewer interruptions and a more resilient network. We'd like to thank everyone for their patience and support while these important upgrades were delivered."

Farrans Construction delivered the project on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
