Water supply is returning in Athlone after the successful completion of connection works

Water supply is returning to Uisce Éireann customers in Athlone after the successful completion of connection works to newly installed water mains in the town.

Customers in Priory Park, The Marina Village, Ashdale, Tormey Villas, Esker Park, Abbey Road Cottages, Old Coosan Road, Coosan Road, Woodland Grove, Assumption Road, Ardilaun, Coosan Point Road, Arcadia Court, Highfield Court, Arcadia Crescent, Beech Walk West, Sli An Aifrinn, Old Ballymahon Road, Ballymahon Road, Beech Park, Beechfield, Auburn Villas, Auburn Terrace, Beech Park West, Ardnaree, Montree, Marina View and the surrounding areas experienced a disruption to their supply while the planned works were ongoing.

The works are part of a major upgrade to strengthen Athlone’s water supply by upgrading trunk water main that connects Athlone Town Water Treatment Plant to the Annagh Reservoir, and will provide a safer and more reliable water supply for homes and businesses in Athlone.

Michael McManus of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their understanding while these works were being carried out. “We understand the inconvenience caused by an interruption to supply. We’d like to thank the community for their patience and co-operation while we carried out these works.”

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
