Water supply returning for customers on the Ardfinnan Supply Scheme

Uisce Éireann has completed restoration works at the Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant and the plant is fully operational.
Water supply is now returning to impacted customers on the Ardfinnan Water Supply. However, reservoirs remain low and will need time to recover. It may take longer for normal supply to be restored to all customers particularly those at the end of the network or on higher ground, as the reservoirs refill and network recharges.
Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty said: “Uisce Éireann acknowledges the disruption that can be caused by an unplanned outage, and we wish to thank customers in the area for their patience while works were underway. We would ask customers in the impacted areas to be mindful that it will take several hours for the reservoirs to fully replenish and for the network to refill.”.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply to customers on the Ardfinnan Water Supply Scheme after an operational issue led to low reservoir levels at the plant. Water levels were already reduced due to recent issues at the water treatment plant.
Customers in the following areas may be experiencing no water as a result: Goatenbridge, Poulatar, Newcastle, Ballybacon, Grange, Ardfinnan, Jamestown, Marlfield, Loughryan, Loughloher, Loughtally, Derrygrath, Rathkeevin, Inishlounaght, Nicholastown, Knocklofty, Castlegrace and surrounding areas.
Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty assured customers that every effort is being made to restore supply to those impacted as quickly and as safely as possible.
“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and thank customers for their support while our works continue to restore supply. We estimate that up to 5,000 customers may be impacted by this outage. Works will take place across the day in an effort to have the plant back in full operation by this evening; however, it will take several hours for the reservoirs to replenish and for the network to refill.”
Restoration works are expected to be completed by 5pm this evening. Typically, it takes a number of hours following the completion of works before water supply is fully restored to all impacted customers, and it may take longer for customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
